Child Support:
Child support is fixed by an algebraic formula set out in the Colorado Revised Statutes. In simplified terms, it depends on the income of the custodial parent, the income of the non-custodial parent, the amount of time that each spends with the child and other factors such as health insurance and child care. However, that is a simplified version. In fact, child support can be very complicated as there are often issues such as what is the income, are there other benefits that need to be counted or discounted as part of income, how do you determine the time-share, and other factors.
Mr. Borof has had long experience in child support issues and has taught classes to lawyers on the subject, particularly with respect to the issue of imputing income in circumstances where one of the parties does not work or under reports his true income. |
